What do you see when you look at me,

Do you see someone limited, or someone free,

All some people can do is just look and stare,

Simply because they can’t see my hair…

Others think I am controlled and uneducated,

They are so thankful that they are not me,

Because they would like to remain ‘free’,

Well free isn’t exactly the word I would’ve used,

Describing women who are cheated on and abused,

They think that I do not have opinions or voice,

They think that being hooded isn’t my choice,

They think that the hood makes me look caged,

That my husband or dad is totally outraged,

All they can do is look at me in fear,

And in my eye there is a tear,

Not because I have been stared at or made fun of,

But because people are ignoring the One up above,

On the Day of Judgment they will be the fools,

Because they were too ashamed to play by their own rules,

Maybe the guys won’t think I am a cutie,

But at least I am filled with more inner beauty,

See I have declined from being a guy’s toy,

Because I won’t let my self be controlled by a boy,

Real men are able to appreciate my mind,

And aren’t busy looking at my behind,

Hooded girls are the ones really helping the Muslim cause,

The role that we play definitely deserves applause,

I will be recognized because I am smart and bright,

And because some people are inspired by my sight,

The smart ones are attracted by my tranquility,

In the back of their mind they wish they were me,

We have the strength to do what we think is right,

Even if it means putting up a life long fight,

You see we are not controlled by a mini skirt and tight shirt,

We are given only respect, and never treated like dirt,

So you see, we are the ones that are free and liberated,

We are not the ones that are sexually terrorized and violated,

We are the ones that are free and pure,

We’re free of standard’s that have no cure,

So when people ask you how you feel about the hood,

Just sum it up by saying ‘baby its all good’.

Beautiful choice of words ya Ukhty.

A hijab is but a shelter that covers a woman’s modesty,

Protecting the honor of a lady from the harmful glares of society,

A piece of garment that raises one’s sense of nobility,

Differentiates the chaste from those who live in futility.

Praised be the One who enjoined us to cover,

The fragrance and beauty likened to that of a blooming flower,

Only to be enjoyed by the man who has the authority and power,

The man who is thy husband, thy friend and thy lover!

Glory be to Allah Ar Rahman Ar Rahim,

For protecting the muslimah from succumbing to her nafs at her whim,

Surely in the Day of Reckoning the hijabis will truly find,

That those who don’t cover will be the ones who are deemed so blind

That they can’t sense that by covering themselves in modesty,

Their status as honourable women are appreciated by society!

نور مسلمة سيد إسماعيل says: Subhan-ALLAH. The poem did really touched this heart of mine. How I wish each and every muslim woman could understand the beautiful meaning of Heejab. Heejab is not only meant to stay as a noun or a piece of cloth. It is something so precious that could cover up your beauty from the strangers unknown.

And basically as a woman and a friend, I could not understand a simple answer from a friend saying that she will either wait until the day of marriage or the day whereby the wind of sincerity will be blown into her heart. Then she will wear that piece of cloth named Heejab. What if… what if, you will not given a chance to feel the ravishing moments of having your own family? What if… what if, the feeling of sincerity is not willing to enter your fragile heart?

I’m just wondering… Wondering and thinking too much about this. If only ALLAH waits for HIS sincerity for everything. Should HE give you HIS rahmah, nikmah, for your own livelihood, health, pleasure and whatever sounds good to you when you ignore HIM, The creator, ALLAHU RABBI?? When you don’t even care to attain to HIS pardon? What kind of human are we when we don’t even want to follow HIS rules and regulations. When we don’t even bother to follow Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam sunnah? Who are we to question about sincerity? Who are we to choose the timing when to do this and that when it stated there in the Qur’an clearly that a woman without her veil is always under the world of HARAM. Showing your beautiful hair to all kinds of man without feeling of shame. You smile, you laugh and yet still you have the guts to make fun of those who already attained to ALLAH’s obligatory?

Just because these few ladies with her veils on still succumbing to temptation of her own nafs in attaining to all kinds of maksiat? But don’t you forget. At least they did one good deeds by following the Islamic Law by wearing their heejabs. Hopefully these ladies will soon repent from all kinds of sins that they had overcome in life.

So to you who’s still waiting for ALLAH SUBHANAHU WA TA’ALA hidayah’s, I’m hoping that you will not be waiting for it too long. Cause ALLAH loves at those people who’re willing and struggling to search for HIS precious hidayah. So, please don’t wait for the feeling of sincerity and the light of hidayah to enter your heart nor when you’re married. Search for it. Look for it. I believe you’ll feel the most amazing nikmah in your life finding for the truth.

    Quote of the day:

My wish… my only wish that the truth has a tongue….

    Wallahu ‘alam bisowob…

    Assalamualaikum Abeen a.k.a Musleemah.
Cantik sekali bahasa puisinya, sekali pun saya tak dapat memahami kesemuanya setakat yang saya faham memang sangat bagus. Dilema wanita bertudung begitulah. Ramai yang pakai tapi tanpa sedar adakah memadai sekadar memakai? Tanpa menyedari adakah ianya syariat atau trend? Fikirkanlah..
